Fashion / Bridal Ongoing partner since 2022Avery Austin: Building a Try-at-Home Bridal Business on Shopify

The Challenge
Avery Austin sells bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses online, and its signature is try-at-home: a bride orders samples of the gowns she likes, tries them on in her own home, and then buys the one she loves. On Magento 2 that program never fit. The platform couldn’t model it cleanly, needed constant maintenance, didn’t integrate properly with their Bridal Live scheduling system, and the checkout was losing customers. With peak wedding season coming, they needed to move fast.
The Migration (2022)
We moved Avery Austin from Magento 2 to Shopify in four weeks, on time and under budget:
- Full data migration, including order history
- A custom theme built to the brand
- Authorize.net for the try-at-home payment flow
- Bridal Live scheduler integration for appointment booking
- A complete redirect map to protect search rankings
Three Years On: What We Run Today
The migration was the start. Since then we have run the store alongside Avery Austin’s team, shipping changes all year round.
Try-at-home, built into Shopify
Each try-at-home sample is its own product, linked to the full gown it represents. That one link powers the whole experience:
- Separate routes for brides and bridesmaids, each with its own pricing and story
- A three-sample box, enforced in the cart
- For signed-in brides, a “dresses you tried at home” list, plus a note on any gown page she has already had in her hands, so the path from sample to purchase is one click instead of her memory
- Try-at-home funnel events tracked in analytics, page by page
Search and content
- 50+ articles written for brides and bridesmaids
- Technical SEO and structured data maintained release by release
- More than 5,000 search queries rank in Google’s top 50 today, over 2,400 of them on page one
Data and measurement
- Shopify orders, GA4, Search Console, Klaviyo and ad platform data in one BigQuery warehouse
- Ad click IDs captured onto the order itself, so offline conversion uploads carry the click that drove the sale
- An email program strategy built on that data, with lifecycle flows timed to the try-on window and the wedding date
How we ship
Every change is built as an isolated draft, compared line by line against what is live, and reviewed by Avery Austin before it is published. Nothing goes straight onto the live store.
The Results
- 4 weeks from Magento to Shopify, on time and under budget
- 5,000+ search queries in Google’s top 50 (October 2026)
- Since 2022: the same partner running the store, theme, SEO and data
Key Outcomes
- Magento 2 to Shopify in 4 weeks, on time and under budget (2022)
- Try-at-home sampling built into the theme: samples linked to full gowns, bride and bridesmaid routes, a three-sample box
- Signed-in brides see the gowns they tried at home, with a direct path back to each one
- 5,000+ search queries ranking in Google's top 50 (October 2026)
- Shopify, GA4, Search Console, Klaviyo and ad data unified in one warehouse
- Ad click IDs captured onto the order, fixing a conversion upload that was losing most of its clicks
